An exciting opportunity has arisen following the formation of the Marine Management Organisation for a Head of Interpretation.
The Decision Support Directorate of the Marine Management Organisation will provide the organisation with an impartial, comprehensive, evidence-based capability to support the integrity and coherence of its marine management activities. The team will have expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: marine ecology; marine geomorphology / oceanography; marine environmental pollution; maritime engineering; fisheries science; and social science.
We are looking for someone to lead the resource of the Technical Experts within Interpretation whose role is to provide the necessary technical expertise to enable MMO to make decisions based upon assured evidence base that will give MMO decision credibility and enable the MMO to have meaningful, validated input into marine policy development across government departments. The technical expertise provided by the Interpretation team will ensure the MMO has respect in the marine science community and become a leading contributor in UK marine science.
The Head Of Interpretation will need to develop excellent relationships with stakeholders across the MMO and policy leaders within the UK marine science and environmental community.
Suitable candidates will be educated to degree level within a relevant discipline or have demonstrable track record in a relevant sector. They should have a clear understanding of the challenges facing sustainable development of the marine environment within both the national and international context. Leadership and experience in managing multidisciplinary teams / projects is pre requisite.
