An exciting opportunity has arisen following the formation of the Marine Management Organisation which has a mission to be the national champion of sustainable development in our marine and coastal area. We are now looking to recruit a team of marine experts to help us provide scientific and socio-economic insight and expertise in the development of Marine Plans and to support evidence-based decisions across the range of MMO functions.
The Decision Support Directorate of the Marine Management Organisation will provide the organisation with an impartial, comprehensive, evidence-based capability to support the integrity and coherence of its marine management activities. The Interpretation Team within this Directorate will provide high level and multi-disciplinary interpretation of the available evidence as well as a technical challenge function to facilitate rigour, consistency and impartiality indecision making. This team will consist of one Environmental Economist and four Technical Experts (including the Head of Interpretation) with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: marine ecology; marine geomorphology / oceanography; marine environmental pollution; maritime engineering; fisheries science; and social science. These experts will provide high level expertise and insight into the development and implementation of Marine Plans, whilst also providing a technical challenge capability in the licensing and enforcement functions of the MMO, a technical lead into research, and support for policy development.
