Environmental Scientist
Dredging International NV Branch UK (DI Br UK) is a subsidiary of the 3,600 strong Dredging Environmental and Marine Engineering (DEME) group www.deme.be.
DI Br UK undertakes dredging and reclamation work throughout the United Kingdom from capital and maintenance projects to beneficial use of sediments. We are seeking talented individuals with knowledge of the marine and/or estuarine environment from a physical sciences or environmental sciences background.
You will support our work in environmental monitoring, permits, licences and consents in the UK (and potentially overseas). You will have an understanding of UK environmental legislation. You will have the minimum of a first degree and two years relevant working experience in the marine/estuarine environment (training on dredging and reclamation work can be provided). You will possess sound communication skills with the ability to write to a variety of audiences. You will also be familiar with, and able to deliver on the, handling of environmental data from its capture, through analysis to reporting. You will be able to deliver quality work to time and have flexibility in covering different topics and requirements of a large project. Your work will start with the major infrastructure project that is building a new Port on the banks of the Thames in Essex. Comprehensive monitoring of water and sediment quality in the estuary and around dredging and reclamation activities provides a varied and exciting workload.
