Deputy Environment & Management Systems Manager
Salary range: £30,290 - £33,433 per annum
The Port of London Authority is a self-financing statutory authority with responsibility for maintaining the safety of navigation along 95 miles of the tidal River Thames and Thames Estuary which is home to the UK’s second biggest port. The PLA’s environment team plays an essential role on the river licensing works, assessing proposals, protecting sensitive areas and managing the organisation’s environmental performance.
In this role your main responsibility will be to assist the Environment Manager with implementing environmental policy across the PLA and providing support with the development of our existing management systems. You will further ensure that the PLA works in compliance with environmental legislation. You will be required to provide technical assessment of dredging and river works licences from an environmental standpoint.
It is essential that you have a degree in an environmental science or similar, ideally with extensive marine environmental management experience. The successful candidate will be a team player and have the ability to work unsupervised, using own initiative when required. You will require excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Preference will be given to candidates with management systems experience.
