This full-time post is a core position within the Conservation section of Cornwall Wildlife Trust, based near Truro, Cornwall.

The post-holder will develop and deliver the Trust’s marine programme. This includes:

  • developing the Trust’s input to promoting sustainable fisheries in Cornwall
  • managing the Trust’s Seasearch project, working with divers to survey the marine environment
  • recruiting, training and providing guidance and support to key volunteer groups
  • campaign work, particularly regarding Marine Protected Areas
  • providing the Trust’s response to marine conservation issues and consultations including fisheries, marine legislation and planning control
  • responding to enquiries about a broad range of issues relating to Cornwall’s marine environment
  • co-ordinating the Trust’s programme of marine education and awareness-raising events, as well as marine publicity.

Applicants should:

  • have a relevant marine or environmental degree and minimum of 2 years employment in a relevant marine conservation role
  • be a qualified diver
  • be an excellent communicator
  • have an excellent knowledge of marine conservation issues and relevant legislation
  • be enthusiastic and self-motivated
