This means a growing demand for marine expertise that can help address the UK's pressing national needs for new supplies of energy. As one of the UK's largest and most diverse applied marine science centres, Cefas helps support the UK energy policy by collecting, integrating and interpreting environmental, and fisheries data to ensure optimal use of our marine resources. Cefas’ significant expertise across a wide range of marine science disciplines puts us at the heart of the fast-developing offshore renewable energy market.

With ambitious plans to build on our extensive client base and a long history in the sector, Cefas are looking for a sales orientated individual who can develop business with large corporate and Government clients. A highly professional approach is required in this high value sector where you will be developing relationships with some of the world’s biggest companies. A background in the renewable energy sector is preferred as would be some level of existing contacts.

The role offers an opportunity to take a significant position in the development of this business in the coming years and would suit a goal orientated individual who develops business in a sustainable manner building lasting relationships.

Specifically, we are looking for a highly motivated team player exhibiting:

  • an entrepreneurial, ‘Can Do’ attitude complemented by the necessary experience and flare to create and secure complex project sales;
  • a strong commercial and technical background;
  • experience within the Renewable Energy sector; and
  • strong project management experience in offshore renewable energy consulting projects.

This role offers outstanding flexibility in terms of location, working conditions and ability to shape the role to deliver Cefas’ business outcomes. Reporting to the Cefas Renewable Energy Programme Director, your role will be to lead the development of new and existing Cefas business primarily in the UK and potentially further a field in future. You will also manage key customer interfaces and major stakeholders and will represent Cefas at workshops and national & international conferences.
