The purpose of this post is to work in the Shellfish Hygiene team of the Aquatic Health & Hygiene Group providing scientific advice in relation to the microbiological contamination of shellfisheries
Your main duties will be to undertake scientific and technical activities in support of the Water Quality team and to contribute to of the compilation of information, data assessment and report writing. In particular:
- Liaising with government departments and agencies, non-departmental government bodies and other organisations.
- Undertaking a programme of assessments and occasional fieldwork;
- Assessment of sources of microbiological contamination in shellfish production areas including statistical analysis and GIS analyses microbiological and environmental data;
- Acquisition of third party data and validation and quality assurance to the appropriate level of use;
- Producing high quality, concise draft reports of assessments;
- Providing associated scientific advice;
- Other duties as required to fulfil the programme.
The post will be mainly office based with some travel to meetings and occasional field-based work
