SENIOR ENVIRONMENT OFFICER
Salary:Salary £24,646 (37 hours per week)
Location:Bristol
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the small environmental management team of the Devon & Severn IFCA, based in Bristol. We are looking for a motivated, organised and effective communicator to undertake research and gather information to study the effects on the marine environment as well as the socio-economic value of the inshore fishery within the Devon & Severn IFCA area.
The successful candidate will be involved in the development of the new Authority and will help to shape its future particularly in the Severn Estuary and North Devon area. Applicants must have a marine environment related degree or equivalent work experience within the marine environment. Experience of delivering research projects, survey techniques, GIS, statistical analysis and managing external contracts is essential.
Responsible for the delivery of Devon & Severn IFCA’ s management plan and giving environmental advice to local and national groups, as well as educational presentations, an individual with a broad knowledge in environment and enforcement legislation on which to make pragmatic decisions on behalf of the Authority is required.
The post holder will be a warranted officer and is expected to enforce fisheries and marine environmental legislation.
The successful candidate will be expected to travel within the IFCA district as well as attending meetings and conferences around the country.
