An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Sustainable Development Team to support the development and delivery of the Flamborough Head Management Plan at a local and strategic level. Sustainable Development is a dynamic team located within the Economic Development service and is responsible for policy and partnership development in a range of fields including: coastal management, bio-diversity, sustainable environment and climate change.

Flamborough Head is one of England’s most important and spectacular wildlife sites and supports populations of seabirds, marine wildlife and botanical communities of international importance. A Management Plan for Flamborough Head has been established since 2004, and its successful delivery aims to ensure that human activities are managed in a manner that is compatible with the requirements of this internationally designated wildlife site.

You will:

  • work closely with the Flamborough Head Management Group, Maritime Forum, Fisheries Liaison Group, key stakeholders and the public to ensure their participation in the sustainable management of Flamborough Head
  • contribute to the delivery of ongoing site monitoring initiatives and the development of relevant projects to support the Plan’s aims and objectives
  • help ensure the long-term future of the Plan, investigating and identifying future options for funding.

You should be educated to degree level and have some experience in a relevant area of work. Computer literacy and familiarity with all standard IT packages is essential.

It is important that you have the ability to clearly communicate relevant issues to help build strong relationships with a wide range of partnerships, relevant authorities and key stakeholders. Experience of working in partnerships would be beneficial, as the role involves working with the voluntary, public and private sectors. You will also need to demonstrate an understanding of project development and management and knowledge of national policies and issues relating to species and habitat management.

Location: based at County Hall, Beverley, with the need for remote working in the Flamborough / Bridlington area Hours: 37 hours per week Contract: 2 year, fixed-term contract.
