F/T Devon Maritime Forum Co-ordinator (temporary)
Salary:£24,646 - £28,636
Reference:ENV527
Location:County Hall, Exeter, Devon
An exciting opportunity has arisen to continue the co-ordination work of the Devon Maritime Forum and fulfil key elements of the recently approved Valmer project. You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development, the principles of valuing ecosystem services and be able to communicate these clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences using a variety of methods.
The Devon Maritime Forum was formed in 2005 and appointed its first Co-ordinator in 2007. The Forum has been well received and has developed into an organisation with recognition at many levels. Its aim is to support activity that develops the use of the coast and maritime environment for people against a background of wise use of the natural environment. In addition to current commitments to the Valmer project, you will develop the Forum to meet current policy, legislative and funding requirements.
The Valmer project is taking forward the concepts developed in the National Ecosystem Assessment and will be completing its work in March 2015. You will take a lead role in providing project-wide communications, including with French partners, and will also lead on developing a pilot case study in Devon.
The Forum is also discussing its role within the forthcoming Marine Plan process with the Marine Management Organisation, which also supports the Valmer project.
The post currently receives funding from a number of local partners and from the European Union and a fixed term contract is offered until March 2015. However, you will work with current local funding organisations and others to safeguard a viable and long-term financial future for the Forum. The funding for the Forum is reviewed annually and you will contribute to this. You will work 37 hours per week.
