About us
The Environment Agency operates at the place where environmental change has its greatest impact on people’s lives. We work closely with a wide range of partners to make sure there is enough water for people and wildlife; reduce the risk of flooding; protect and improve air, land and water quality and apply the environmental standards within which industry can operate. Join us as a Marine Advisor and you’ll play an important role in ensuring that future generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world.
The role Here in the Environment and Business (E&B) team, we shape the Environment Agency’s work in coastal waters. It’s up to us to make sure that we have the right approach, the right relationships and the right resources to create a better place for people and wildlife.
You’ll help E&B to inform Government policy and legislation in this vital area, working closely with colleagues from our Evidence and Operations teams, as well as external partners like DEFRA and the Marine Management Organisation. It’s a vitally important role at an exciting time, and you’ll shape the way we deliver our marine work, including contributing to the second cycle of River Basin Management Plans, the Marine and Coastal Access Act and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. You’ll analyse problems and provide options to senior management for action to further improve the way we work and how best to deliver our environmental outcomes.
About you Firstly, you share our passion for the coastline and marine environment. You should have proven experience and a good understanding of the marine/coastal environment. You could, for example, be working as a marine consultant. But whatever your background, it’s vital that you’re a strong project manager, confident driving work and delivering results through others. Analytical and intelligent, you’ll have a good understanding of data and information management. And, when you add in your excellent communication skills, you’re able to present evidence with clarity and conviction. You’ll also need the credibility to work at a regional, national and European level.
In return, we offer a competitive package with a range of benefits and the opportunity to make a real difference to the environment. We’re also open to flexible working arrangements, including jobshare.
