COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Salary:Starting salary in the range £33,000 to £40,000 depending on experience
A Communications Officer is required to join the Secretariat of the International Whaling Commission based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. This new post will work alongside the Secretariat’s management team to establish and develop a programme of external and internal communications.
The IWC is composed of 89 member governments and is the inter-governmental body responsible for the conservation of whales and the management of whaling.
The Commission undertakes an extensive intersessional work programme and the Communications Officer will be responsible for increasing the awareness and understanding of the IWC’s achievements to a wide range of stakeholders.
The person to be appointed will have proven communications and public relations experience, excellent writing skills and a background in science based and/or international organisations.
As an inter-governmental organisation the IWC’s staff members and their immediate families are exempt from measures restricting immigration in order to take up employment with the Commission in the United Kingdom. Accordingly applicants from UK and non-UK citizens are encouraged.
