Joint Nature Conservation Committee

The Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) was established by the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and advises on UK and international conservation issues.

Full-time, permanent

About the role

The Marine Management Advice function of JNCC is a rapidly growing area and one of increasing complexity. It covers advice on licensed offshore industries (e.g. Oil & Gas, Aggregates, Renewables); advice on marine species, advice on marine fisheries and advice on these issues in relation to activities that might affect protected areas offshore. The workload in these areas has grown and an opportunity has therefore arisen for a new post to lead the Offshore Industries Advice Programme and the team of staff associated with it.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead, develop and enhance JNCC’s role in the delivery of Offshore Industries Advice. The post holder will lead the programme of work (as Programme Leader) and lead and manage the specialist team of marine scientists (as Team Leader) that comprise the Offshore Industries Advice team.

Offshore Industries Advice (OIA) provides expert advice to regulators and licensed users of the UK marine environment, with particular focus on Oil & Gas, Marine Aggregates extraction and Offshore Renewable energy developments (primarily wind). The successful candidate will represent JNCC at a senior level in the UK and international fora.

In return you will have the opportunity to develop and broaden your Managerial skills working with a highly skilled team of Marine Scientists. We also offer a generous leave allowance and a choice of pension schemes, together with the opportunity to contribute to our work in protecting the environment.
